    Hi Richard, Great video!! I have an R7000 with dd-wrt firmware running, but I have forgotten my password, my question is "Do I need re-install the Netgear firmware first and then re-install dd-wrt firmware, in order to reset the dd-wrt password? Or will the 7 second reset accomplish the same thing?"

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 2 місяці тому

      Glad you enjoyed it. The seven second reset should do it, but understand that you will lose all your configurations and go back to the DD-WRT default configuration. Hi Richard, can you advise PLS (or if you have a video about it already), how can I link two networks together, where both of them has separate ISP provider and they see each other wirelessly only? Can these two Networks extend their range, like a doorbell hanging on Network1 talks to SmartSwitch hanging on Network 2 (because wifi door bell is too far from network 2) They can be on same network - DHCP range can be set differently and clients enabled by MAC address filter - so everybody would use his same Internet, but our WiFi range would be extended....) Wifi load balancing comes not in picture here, as the two ISP connection is far from each other... Thanks

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      There are routers that can be connected to two separate Internet Service Providers and pipe both those feeds into one network. Here's and example at Amazon(paid): amzn.to/3U9difK They can be programmed to load balance between the two providers. The plus here is that both ISP's will be feeding data into one network. After you have that working you can set both routers to be on the same network and all should work (very simplified explanation here). I suspect that the problem you are trying to solve would not require you to do all of this. If all you need is your WIFI range extended this can be taken care of by a WIFI range extender like this one at Amazon(paid): amzn.to/3PS88SR or (Refurb): amzn.to/3U9jswK I will be doing a video on WIFI range extenders and how to deploy them in the future. Thank you so much for commenting, watching and the great question. I appreciate it greatly. Subscribe, Click The Bell and stay tuned! All the best.👍😀

    Do we need to turn off the dhcp server for the second and third router since the default gateway is pointing to the first router ?

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      The DHCP server on the second and third router needs to be on to give unique IP addresses to the clients that connect to those two routers. If you connect the routers like I show on the video the primary router can only serve IP addresses to clients that connect to it directly. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. Subscribe, Click The Bell and stay tuned! All the best.👍😀

    • @lohti6399
      @lohti6399 3 місяці тому

      @@richardlloydusa In that case, I think there is a need to set a range of IP address for the DHCP server for each of these 3 routers. That is to prevent IP conflict because all 3 routers got it's own dhcp server.

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      There are a total of three separate and unique networks created in this video. They all stand alone when connected in the configuration I show. The DHCP domains are limited to the router and network for which they are set. if you set the IP addresses on each of these router to the same range and connected them the way I show in the video they would not communicate with each other as the outside (WAN) IP addresses would conflict with the inside IP addresses (LAN). The router would see the conflict (usually) and change the inside IP range (LAN) to something that does not conflict. The primary router can not see anything on the LAN side (inside) of other two routers and can not conflict with their clients. The other two routers don't see each other at all and in my configuration the primary router only has two clients which are the secondary and tertiary routers. Thanks

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      I did not drain the tank as the Anode i mounted on the top of the tank. If yours is elsewhere some are horizontal than you must drain it. Make sure to turn off the water main and depressurize the system by opening a tap. I use the garden taps as they are mounted low and will drain the most water out of the system. Having been in the military responsible as a terrain vehicle driver, the vehicles were equipped with grease nipples for the vehicle to be long term functional. Earlier days, even consumer vehicles were equipped with these. But I guess that doesn't render any money to spare parts manufacturers. Good job! As previously mentioned, the shavings from the drilling and drill bits might be an issue.

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      Thank you so much for your service Sir. I did not have any issue with the shavings. You could blow it out with compressed air but still no guaranty that it will clear them all. I figure what is left is very small. I use nothing but Moog product now as I found they are so superior to the regular no name stuff and they come ready to be greased with the nipple. They last a very long time (if you grease them regularly) every oil change for me. Thank you so much for commenting, watching and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. • @jlindborg1105
      @jlindborg1105 3 місяці тому

      Yeah, shavings are a bit worrying but high air pressure “rinse” remedies this somewhat. If ball and suspension is both metal I would think it would be good nonetheless as long as you yearly relubricate the joint.

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      The Santa Fe I did this for STILL has the same lower ball joints today and they are still tight. So as far as this modification goes I would have to say it worked. Thanks again.

    I have a similar but different question, I have a question about the setup in this video also. In the setup you propose in this video, what is the purpose of router #1? Assuming you have a modem that’s capable of allowing two router connections, does eliminating router #1 present another problem? The question I have that actually got me here is: I have a very simple setup. Modem, and router… I have multiple SSIDs coming from that router. I use almost everything wirelessly. I need the printer to show up regardless of which SSID I’m currently attached to. The solution I keep finding is to connect it to the router or the pc via a cable. I have a pc I just prefer not to use it all the time. Nonetheless when I’ve tried both of those options, the printer only shows up for the hardwired devices and doesn’t show up via Wi-Fi at all.

      There's something weird happening on your network. Are you using an Ethernet network cable to connect the printer to your router? I have my HP printer hard wire connected to my router (Ethernet) and multiple SSID's and everything connected to the same router (hard wired or WIFI) see that printer. The WIFI SSID's on your router should all be part of the network as the printer. Scratching my head here. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. The two routers act like a switch on the same network instead.

    • @richardlloydusa
      @richardlloydusa 3 місяці тому

      Correct. What the world generally calls a "router" is much more than just a router. It's router, switch, WIFI AP, DHCP server, Firewall etc. Fortunately you can bypass the functions you don't need and use the ones that you do need. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. Hi Richard. How can we do this with a Mesh router units? if you have three units mesh net connected? They all three have different IP addresses now

      Looking at the TP-Link Deco units they appear to be able to be used as stand alone units. · Wireless Router Mode - Creates an instant private wireless network · Access Point Mode - Creates Wi-Fi access for any existing wired network Try it and report back. I'm interested in this result. Thank you so much for commenting, watching and the great question. I appreciate it greatly. Subscribe, Click The Bell and stay tuned! All the best.👍😀

      Check the oil. Make sure it looks right. If coolant is leaking past your head gasket it will look muddy. You may want to check for vacuum leaks as well as check your air filter too. Thank you for the informative and guiding video on tp link routers. Sadly I tried to unbrick a Deco X50 with TFTP server and HTTP method. Sadly, none of them were succesful. No communication was captured through Wireguard. I think this is a hardware issue. If I have more information on this, I will give you an update. If you have any information about Deco X50, please let me know. Keeping you updated...

    Great video, thank you very much for sharing. A quick question. What is the issue of having both routers connected to the internet? I have the current issue. My primary router is provided by my internet provider. They are Plume with only two Ethernet ports. Since I need more ports, I decided to connect my own router between the modem and the router provided by my provider. So, the connection goes from modem to my router to the router provided by the internet provider. For this reason, both routers have internet connection and generate their own independent Wi-Fi that has internet access. So far things seem to be working but I am not sure if it is the right thing to do. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking on replacing my router with an Ethernet splitter but not sure.

      If it's working with your current arrangement, I see no reason to modify it. When it no longer serves your needs, then look for an alternative configuration. As my Father would tell me,"If it's not broken Richard, don't fix it." Of course that did not stop me. LOL. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. Hi Richard. Thanks for explaining. Can you use your 2nd spare router both as an access point and a switch (i.e don't turn off the WiFi feature on the 2nd router)? Alternatively, what might happen if you plugged a separate access point into one of the spare LAN ports on the 2nd router with WiFi disabled (I know it makes no sence if you can use the router as an access point). Thanks for the great channel.

    After failing with one and thinking this could be the general rule, I tried using a digital conversion box to enable two of my other digital monitors to receive over the air tv, and they did. It is nice to have less than $40 enable such widespread and on/off by choice capability.
